2022 – US$49,000 3 Classroom School Building, Toilet Repair and Bore Water Drilled

Vatunau is a small village about 45 minutes outside Dili. It has 278 children and 6 classrooms  and children are taught in two shifts a day.  One of the school buildings was a tin shed with no weather protection. The school’s toilets were unusable and they had no water source.  They also didn’t have enough desks and chairs, even for their existing classrooms.

In 2022, Spend it Well built a new 3 classroom building and refurbished the toilets, at a total cost of USD$49,000.  We also installed a bore to provide water to the school.   East Timor Roofing donated their high quality roofing iron, guttering and tank for the project.  The school was also given school desks and chairs in excellent condition which had been saved from landfill by Rotary Donations in Kind and shipped to Timor.
