Schools in Timor-Leste rarely even have a flat play area and almost never have play equipment.  We’re working with a group of Rotarians in Melbourne to try and change this.

The Rotary playground team salvage, clean, repair and store good quality playgrounds which are being replaced and would otherwise be sent to landfill. When we’re able to find donors to provide the shipping and transport cost, we ship those playgrounds to Timor and have the builders we work with install them at schools.

We’ve been able to do this at 4 primary schools so far and the playgrounds bring great delight to the children.  

Our goal for 2026 is to send a container full of 6 playgrounds to Timor-Leste and we are looking for funding to help us do this.
