Buruma Village had a primary school, but nowhere to teach their 43 preschool children.
East Timor Trading is a company owned by the Awan family which believes passionately in the need to educate Timor’s children. They provided the entire $45,000 needed to build a new two classroom building and water connection during 2024 and 2025.
This is the third preschool East Timor Trading has built with Spend it Well. It has been re-named Pre-Escolar Avo Ana Arena Olimpia de Almeida Buruma in honour of the family matriach. East Timor Trading also provided much needed furniture and supplies for the preschool.
The new preschool was officially opened on Monday March 24 by the President of Timor-Leste, His Excellency Dr Jose Ramos Horta and the Minister of Education for Timor-Leste Her Excellency Dulce de Jesus Soares.
