Pre Escolar Avo Ana Arena Olimpia de Almeida Claet-Rema, Ermera District

Remote Claet-Rema village has 42 preschool children who were being taught in a dirt-floored wooden hut with no windows which flooded during rain. There were no toilets or access to clean water.  The village is only accessible by road during the dry season.

East Timor Trading is a company owned by the Awan family which believes passionately in the need to educate Timor’s children.  They provided the entire $45,000 needed to build a new two classroom building, toilets and water connection during 2023.

This is the second preschool East Timor Trading has built with Spend it Well.  It has been re-named Pre-Escolar Avo Ana Arena Olimpia de Almeida Claet-Rema in honour of the family matriach.   East Timor Trading also provided much needed furniture and supplies for the preschool.
