Claet-Rema Pre-School is in a remote village a 4 hour drive from Dili. The 42 children are being taught in a dirt-floored wooden hut which has no windows and is not weatherproof. There are no toilets or access to clean water.
What the children need is a new two classroom building, toilets and a source of water. The cost for this is US$45,000. The bad road and poor access has made this cost higher than elsewhere.
East Timor Trading is a Timorese family-owned company which believes passionately in the need to educate Timor’s children. They have already funded the entire construction cost of a pre-school in Liquica with Spend it Well. East Timor Trading has committed to funding a new pre-school which will be re-named Pre-Escolar Avo Ana Arena Olimpia de Almeida Claet-Rema in honour of the family matriach. Construction will start in 2023 once the wet season ends and the road to the pre-school is passable.
