A Melbourne family has donated A$100,000 to fund our next project – building a new 4 classroom and teachers’ building, 5 toilets, a kitchen and drilling a bore for fresh water at Liminaro School in Bobonaro District. Liminaro has 71 students and is in a remote area in the mountains, a 4 hour drive from Dili. Photos of the existing school are above and below.
Madebau School, Bobanoro District
We knew that Madebau School was in a bad way and needed replacing. But recent photos show how close the school is to being swept away by the river which it sits next to. The constant rains during the wet season mean that the road to the school is currently inaccessible, but we’ll start work as soon as the roads are open. We will have an exciting partnership to announce soon – with our new partner funding the full cost of building a new 4 classroom and 1 teachers’ room building, a kitchen, 5 toilets, furniture and a bore for fresh water at Madebau School. Total build price will be US$70,100. Photos of the current school and it’s precarious position below.
