School Garden for Belola and 6 Surrounding Schools

Belola’s school garden has started, with the local community helping by building the fence. Timorese NGO Permatil is working with Belola and 6 surrounding schools over the next 12 months to teach children and adults how to grow nutritious food sustainably. Our goal is to tackle the huge issues of malnutrition and food security and improve education outcomes for the school children.

Railuli School Coming Along Well

The wet season has been so long and heavy that  the road to Railuli was washed away, making the village accessible only by foot and motorbike.  The good news though is that Railuli’s kids won’t have to endure another wet season in their tin roofed, dirt floored school shack (photo below).  Work on their new school is coming ahead well again now that the rains have eased and it will be ready for them in a couple of months.
