Jobs for Railuli Locals

Julio our builder, has hired 9 locals to help with the construction of the school.  This is great for teaching them skills and also to bring some money into the village. The work on the school is coming along well.  Heavy rains this last week have slowed things down, but the building frames and slab are ready to go in as soon as there is a long enough break in the weather.  They’ve been working on the toilet block in the meantime which is looking good.

Railuli School is Underway

We won the race with the wet season and managed to get all the materials we need to build Railuli School up there before the rains started.  That means that we’ll be able to keep building over the wet season, even though the road to the village will be virtually impassable.  Work is underway already on the foundations which need to be 2 metres deep because of the slope on the land.  It’s a spectacular place to build a school.
